Talking About Cash Mobs With a New York Limo

As unemployment reached a high point, many unemployed workers started up their own local small businesses in order to take control of their own financial futures. This has led to a trend that started in New York City called “Cash Mobs”.

What Are They?

A cash mob is group of people that go to a small, local business and spend their money, usually a set amount, en masse. This gives the local business a bit of an economic boost as well as a sense of support from those around them. It is also a great way for people to help businesses grow,  have a great time, get stuff, make people happy, and maybe even get a drink after to celebrate.

History

The first “Cash Mob” was organized in Buffalo, NY on August 5^th, 2011 by a blogger named Christopher Smith. Since then “Cash Mobs” have sprouted up all over the U.S. with the intent to support local businesses.  “Cash Mobs” are not a political or social organization, but instead is an idea, that you can have a positive impact on local businesses and have fun doing it.

Where are they happening?

“Cash Mobs” are starting all over the country and you may be able to find one near you on this list. This site is simply a way for people to learn about what cash mobs are how they can make a difference. The linked list is just a few of the places that have “Cash Mob” activity and are in no way all of the locations that are participating. If you can’t find one in your city, start one!

Making a “Cash Mob”

The guidelines are really quite simple, find a local, non-chain, store and all of the participants visit said store at the same time with a set budget.  With enough people you can create a flux of income to give that local business a little boost.
