Winter Season Ideas From a New York Limo Service
Winter is upon us and perhaps you’re looking for something to do this season. New York is a lively city all year round and finding activities is not difficult. Here is a small list if ideas that may spark some interest or get those wheels turning.
1.Check out Park Here. It is an enclosed green space that started in 2011. It features games like badminton and jenga, as well as events such as a Nerd Nite trivia competition. There is a lot going on here so be sure to check it out and see what’s going on.
2.Winter can be rough on the male visage, so if you haven’t tried it, maybe you should get a nice hot shave at Barbiere. For $30 you can get a hot-towel treatment, a shave using a specially made lather and a beer or shot of Jameson to go with it.
3.Go ice skating. This is the time of the year to strap on a pair of skates and hit the ice. With numerous rinks in the city you will have many choices and it’s a great activity for any group.
4.Go sledding. Sledding is a wonderful pastime in the winter months. Some great spots in New York City are Pilgrim hill in Central Park, Hippo Playground in Riverside Park, and Clove Lakes Park. So grab your toboggan and your friends and hit those hills.
5. The Chinese New Year is right around the corner and there are 2 large celebrations taking place towards the end of January. The Firecracker Ceremony takes place Jan 23rd at noon, where they set off half a million firecrackers to ward away bad sprits for the year. On Jan 29th at 1 is the Lunar New Year Parade. Celebrate the year of the Dragon and enjoy.
6.Go seal spotting. Every year hundreds of seals travel south to warmer waters. Between December and March they hang out on local beaches during low tide. Each year there is a Seal Shore Safari guided tour so enjoy.
7.Try out some winter sports. During February the city’s green spaces host Winter Jam. Here you can partake in cold-weather activities like skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. Feel free to check it out!
8.Watch the Globetrotters. February 18th the Globetrotters will be at Madison Square Garden. Their silly yet impressive antics are well worth seeing but tickets go fast so if you want to watch Tiny, Hops, or TNT tearing up the court I would hurry up and grab tickets soon.
9.Snowball fight! Impromtu snow ball fights and other fun games pop up on social media sites when the forecast predicts white. There is even a NYC Snowball Fight Club. Fun for all of those kids as well as kids at heart, check it out and don’t miss out of the festivities.
These are some of the activities available this winter and are by no means all there is to do. New York is a busy city and it’s not difficult to find something to do. Hopefully these tips at least gave you some ideas and from a New York Limo Service have a wonderful new year!
