Matilda the Musical is based on the classic children’s novel by Ronald Dahl and was created by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2009. The play details Matilda’s encounter with her parents and strict headmaster in order to find happiness. The musical has won awards in 2013 including “Best Musical” for the UK production and has won a number of Tony awards for categories such as “Best Score”, “Best Featured Actor in a Musical” (Gabriel Ebert), and even won the Tony for Excellence in Theatre.
