The Art of the Brick exhibit at Discovery Times Square is a unique and kid friendly exhibit of a collection of famous paintings and sculptures completely made out of Legos. Nathan Sawaya, the exhibit’s creator has constructed over 100 different pieces of art including a rendition of famous artists like Monet, a collection of portraits composed entirely out of Lego bricks and a number of creative and fun sculptures including a 20 foot T-Rex. The Art of the Brick exhibit opened June 14th, and tickets are available to see the exhibit every day. Nathan Sawaya is a New York based artists who has released four of these different exhibits around North America, Asia, and Australia, and New York is fortunate to be a part of this family.

What is so appealing about this exhibit that it is fun and interesting for both adults and children. The intricate details are sure to astound all of the visitors and also display all of the creative possibilities that come with using such a large number of Legos to create art. The exhibit houses both fun and a little more serious sculptures that are available for viewing. In addition to the T-Rex, a large mask and pencil can be found in the exhibit as well as a number of human sculptures that mimic historic art such as David by Michelangelo. Both children and adults are sure to be astounded by the dedication and detail provided in all of the sculptures.

The mix of the young and sophisticated art concept is sure to provide hours of entertainment for the entire family. Once you are done here, be sure to visit the other interesting exhibits found at Discovery Times Square specifically Body Worlds: Pulse. This exhibit educates people and shows the beauty and grace of the human body. Body Worlds features really human bodies that were willingly donated for science and have gone through a process called “plastination” to allow visitors to learn about the anatomy of their own human form. This exhibit is not only intriguing but very educational as it includes real life models of specific body parts along with explanations of their function in the body and offers advice on how to stay healthy. Tickets for this exhibit and the Art of the Brick exhibit can be purchased online.
