Restaurant Week Advice From a New York Limo Service

Post 70 of 142

Restaurant Week is here again and it is time to get excited. Restaurant week is the time to try out some of New York City’s finest dining destinations. Restaurants all over the city are offering $24.07 lunch and $35.00 dinners which can be a huge discount. This is the perfect time to try out restaurants that you have always wanted to go to without giving up your kid’s tuition to do it. These are a few tips on how to enjoy restaurant week to its fullest.

  1. Dress well. To some this may be an issue, but the fact is, if you go out looking like a slob, you will be treated like a slob. Similarly dressing well can get you treated very well and respected. You don’t have to act like you are going to a ball, but a little extra effort goes miles.
  2. Make reservations early. This is extremely important as some of the best venues will book quickly. Call ahead, as far as a week ahead, to get a table or check sites like Opentable.com. Avoiding Thursday and Friday is a good idea as these are the busiest days to try to go.
  3. Be warned. Many restaurants offer fewer than 5 meals for the price deal. This means if you are a picky eater you may want to be selective in your restaurant choices or be prepared to pay full price for a menu item.
  4. Ask around. If you are unsure of what restaurant to go to as friends and family what restaurants they enjoyed. There are many reviews online for you to check out as well as blog posts stating where you should go for restaurant week.
  5. Careful of the drinks. Your meal is discounted, but your drinks are not. Make sure you know how much you’re paying when you order a drink to avoid a shocking bill. Do not be afraid to order tap water.
  6. Tip well. Just because the meal is discounted doesn’t mean the waiters get compensated for the difference. The stigma on restaurant week diners is that they are cheap and don’t understand proper tipping etiquette so do your part and let’s keep our waiters happy.
  7. Watch for cancelations. If you have your heart set on a specific restaurant call in and check for cancelations. They are not uncommon.
  8. Curb your Expectations. Chances are you are being offered a cheaper fair rather than signature dishes. If this is a problem you can still order full priced off of the menu. On that note expect things to be a little tight as some restaurants will cram tables in to make up for the reduced income.
  9. Make it a date night. With a cheap dinner why not add in a New York Limousine and make the night special. What better way to spend an evening than to cruise around in a New York Limousine and just see the city.

Restaurant week is a great time to try new foods and restaurants at a reduced price. This is the time to experiment and simply enjoy yourself. From Gotham Limos, we hope you have a wonderful Restaurant Week and hope to make it special.
