New Year’s Eve is a global event that inspires some epic celebrations, like the one in New York City. You can find close to one million people crammed into Times Square, New York Limousines everywhere and see the city truly come alive as it nears midnight. Enjoying New York City on New Year’s Eve requires planning more than anything, but here are some tips on how to make it through the holiday with a smile on your face and in one piece.

Times Square Or Bust

If going to Times Square is something you want to do, then you need to commit fully to the experience. You need to get there extremely early (think morning of December 31^st) and dress warm. It will be cold and you will be standing around all day without much bathroom access. If the idea of being surrounded by close to a million people doesn’t appeal to you, you should avoid Midtown like the plague.

Bars and Clubs

You will no doubt see many deals and ads offering $50 for an open bar, champagne toast at midnight and a 4a.m. breakfast. This sounds great, except many of the places offering these deals will be packed to the extreme with drink lines at least 20 people deep. Chances are you are not going to get your money’s worth on this one so you might want to choose and alternative.

You can rent out a New York Limousine and throw a mobile party with you and your friends. This is a great alternative as you will be driven around, see the sights you may want to see, and you will only be as crowded as you want to be.

A house party is also a good alternative. You can celebrate with your friends, get your money’s worth, avoid the crowds and really enjoy yourself.

Stay Close To Home

If you elect to go out on the town, your best bet is to stay close to your place of residence, be it your home or hotel. Getting anywhere can be a royal pain and the fact is that cab prices are at a premium. If you find something near where you live, you can avoid most of the unpleasantries that may otherwise waylay your night.

Be Responsible

New Year’s Eve is a time to let loose and go wild. Many will be celebrating in this manner and while there is nothing wrong with that, you may want to ease back on how much you drink. People will be thrown out of bars, puking everywhere, fighting for no obvious reason and throwing bottles. This doesn’t mean you cannot have fun, just be responsible and keep an eye out for this kind of behavior.

New York City is a magnificent place to be for New Year’s Eve whether you are in Times Square or elect to ride around in a New York Limousine. It is important to be responsible, be careful and mostly, stay safe.
